Biophilia – Nature’s Call The Biophilia hypothesis suggests humans possess an innate tendency to seek connections with nature and other forms of life. Edward O’Wilson introduced and popularised the hypothesis in his book ‘Biophilia’ (1984) He defines biophilia as the urge to affiliate with other forms of life. Exposure to nature has never been more important than it is today. We are spending more and more time indoors, looking at screens and away from the natural world. What this means is that we are missing out on essential psychological and physiological benefits that exposure to the nature provides us with. About the Artist: Tom McSherry is a local artist who is primarily self-taught. As a mature student, Tom studied for 2 years at CTI Clonmel for level 5 Arts and Crafts, and level 6 Fine Art certificates. It was there that he learned to experiment with various materials and mediums, looking for different ways to portray his ideas. Biophilia – Nature’s Call is a cumulation of works in which these ideas, techniques and experiences with nature are expressed. Contact details: tom.mcsherry@gmail.com Mobile: 087 946 6360
