South Tipperary Arts Centre produced a map of all Clonmel Culture Night events and also wrote an article for The Nationalist newspaper to publicise all the different events. This was much appreciated by the other participants. The Arts Centre also coordinated ‘The Chronicles of Trollope’ – a literary walk with members of Clonmel Theatre Guild where people were led on a tour of Clonmel by actor Will Nugent as Anthony Trollope, passing characters from his novels along the way. The author began at the old Post House, passed Mrs Grantly and the Archdeacon having afternoon tea at the Main Guard, the Warden met the public in the grounds of Old St Mary’s Church, and Phineas Finn was waiting with Mme Max Goesler for the curtains to rise in front of the White Memorial Theatre. A short film with extracts from the novels was shown in the theatre, and a violinist greeted the audience on arrival. As part of the ‘Apple Treasures’ exhibition, there was an apple treasures trail, taking in Parnell Street, Mitchell Street, the Friary Car Park, and Dowd’s Lane. Participants heard Lady Apple Pip’s stories and anecdotes at the Arts Centre where apple-themed refreshments were served and where Eimear King’s specially commissioned short film: ‘Clonmel’s Treasured Apple People’ was screened throughout the evening.
